Proposed Changes EP & A Act

The NSW government is proposing to make changes to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act (EP & A Act).

The purpose stated by the Department is to create ‘a simpler, faster, and more inclusive assessment process’ and ‘increase community confidence’ along with ‘creating an orderly and balanced architecture for decision making’.

A draft Exposure Bill is being prepared which is anticipated to go on public exhibition in the second half of the year.

BPN recently attended a workshop, where feedback to various questions was sought. In the room were also environmental groups, industry, councils and other community networks. In response to a request for the opportunity for more feedback, a survey has been prepared by the department.
